Animal Coordinator & Trainer for Film and Television
With more than 20 years of experience on film and television sets, Sophie Longpré is one of Quebec's most trusted animal coordinators and trainers. She specializes in non-exotic animals—dogs, cats, horses, pigs, chickens, and more—preparing them to perform complex, natural behaviors in high-pressure production environments.
Sophie's approach is grounded in patience, consistency, and deep respect for the animals in her care. She builds trust through daily training, helping animal actors respond to subtle verbal or visual cues, often from a distance and without breaking the illusion on camera. Her work ensures that the animal's performance looks effortless—while always prioritizing safety, well-being, and ethical treatment.
On set and off, Sophie personally oversees every aspect of animal care, from feeding and walking to emotional comfort and rest. If something doesn't feel right, she speaks up—because for her, no scene is more important than an animal's health.
Over the years, she's contributed to a wide range of productions across genres. One recent highlight includes Witchboard (dir. Chuck Russell), where her cat's spontaneous on-set moment stunned both the director and the special effects team. Another milestone was the red-carpet premiere of Adventures in the Land of Asha, where Sophie walked alongside her canine actor, Misha—a rare and meaningful nod to the work of animal actors and the people who train them.
Calm under pressure and deeply devoted to her craft, Sophie Longpré brings both professionalism and heart to every production she touches.
