Search & Rescue

Gérald Marcil, a former paramedic with over 25 years of experience, is the founder of SARCAN Québec, an organization dedicated to training specialized search and rescue dogs. His extensive expertise includes training dogs to locate missing persons—both alive and deceased—as well as conducting object searches and drug detection.

SARCAN’s teams of skilled dogs and volunteer handlers are actively preparing for official recognition as a second-line resource in disappearance cases. Throughout the three-day UNITED K9 event, SARCAN will be on-site presenting live search and rescue demonstrations and offering invaluable insights into their work. This is a unique opportunity for dog owners interested in training their dogs for search and rescue to meet Gérald and the SARCAN team, learn more about the mission, and find out how to get involved.
