A Trailblazer in Animal Training for Film & TV
We're thrilled to welcome Sophie Longpré, one of Quebec's most accomplished animal wranglers for film and television, to UNITED K9 this September.
With over 20 years of experience coordinating and training animal actors, Sophie has left her mark on countless productions. From dogs and cats to horses, pigs, and even chickens, her expertise lies in helping animals perform naturally, safely, and confidently on camera—all while ensuring their well-being comes first.
Throughout the three-day event, Sophie will be on-site in collaboration with AQTIS 514 IATSE, the Quebec union technicians in the film and TV industry. We invite all attendees to visit her tent, where you can:
-
Learn more about her extraordinary career
-
Discover what it really takes to train animal actors
-
Chat about her services for productions
-
Get advice on how to turn your dog into a screen-ready performer

And don't miss a very special moment on Sunday, during the John Douangdara & Bart the Warrior Dog Awards. In partnership with AQTIS 514 IATSE, we will honour Sophie with the John & Bart Award, recognizing a career of excellence in animal training for film and television. The award will be presented by Sith Douangdara, father of the late Navy SEAL K9 handler John Douangdara.
Come celebrate this outstanding achievement and meet a true trailblazer in animal coordination. Sophie's work has brought countless animal performances to life—and now, she's here to share that passion with you.
